DAY 1: KIGALI CITY TOUR
Your guide will meet you at your hotel (or another agreed-upon location in Central Kigali) and take you on a fascinating tour of Kigali's history, culture, art, and markets.
We may end at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which is both moving and tragic.
Stop for lunch at one of the colorful Kigali cafes recommended by us that are popular with locals but not well-known to foreigners. Whether we book ahead of time or your guide assists you in making a decision on the moment, you will experience delicious meals and a warm Rwandan welcome!
Drive to Musanze in the afternoon to visit Volcanoes National Park. When you arrive, proceed to the lodge, where you will spend the remainder of the evening. Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge is where you'll eat and sleep.
Tiloreza is a boutique operator that provides tourists with exceptional levels of luxury through a variety of villas. Their restaurant has a fantastic view of the Volcanoes.
DAY 2: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING
Upon arrival, everyone will be divided into groups of up to eight people—possibly joined by additional tourists—before being assigned a ranger. You will then travel a short distance to the trailhead, where you will hike through the jungle for around 1-3 hours to encounter the gorillas. When you discover them, spending an hour with these extraordinary primates is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you will never forget. Seeing and walking among a family of mountain gorillas is a wildlife experience unlike any other on the planet. You'll go up close and personal with the gorillas. As aunts and uncles wander together in an extended family group under the watchful eye of the silverback, boisterous adolescents will misbehave, while playful children will constantly demand the attention of their parents.
After returning to the headquarters, return to your accommodation for a celebratory lunch before transferring to Gisenyi on Lake Kivu in the afternoon. Paradise Kivu is where you will spend the night.
DAY 3: BOAT RIDE TO CYIMBILI – COFFEE TOUR
You will be carried by motorboat on one of Africa's Great Lakes this morning. You'll enjoy the stunning beauty that surrounds Lake Kivu, which is best seen from the boat. It's a beautiful way to travel! The coffee excursion will take you to Cyimbili by watercraft. This interesting tour of a bustling coffee washing station brings to life the whole process of harvesting, washing, roasting, grinding, and preparing some of Rwanda's—and the world's—best coffee.
Coffee has literally transformed Cyimbili and provided a consistent source of income for many locals. While Cyimbili coffee is available for purchase following the tour, the beans grown here are also used in some of the world's most well-known coffee brands.
After lunch, take a short walk to Munini (Napoleon) Island. Hike to the top of Munini, often known as Napoleon Island (because to its resemblance to Napoleon's famed hat!) Cormoran Lodge will serve as your temporary home.
DAY 4: KAYAKING ON LAKE KIVU
Kayak around the shores of Lake Kivu, one of Africa's largest lakes. With an experienced and qualified guide, you will paddle a modern sea kayak or sit-on-top to dip into inlets and across bays while taking in the gorgeous scenery, meeting fisherman, exploring local fish farms, and possibly visiting hot springs.
You'll get the chance to visit a small fishing village as well as Munini, often known as Napoleon Island, for a hike to the summit viewpoint and the sight of a raucous bat colony. A satisfying swim in the warm, clear water from the kayaks is an excellent way to conclude our adventure!
You will be taken to Nyungwe National Park after lunch. Nyungwe Forest, located in southern Rwanda, is a high-altitude montane tropical rainforest reserve that was established in 1933. The woods is contained inside the Albertine Rift.
Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel will host your supper and overnight stay.
DAY 5: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING
You will travel to the jungle early this morning to follow chimps.
Spend an incredible hour in the jungle with a monkey colony! You will leave at 5:00 a.m. for Cyamudongo, a section of Nyungwe Forest that is home to the vast majority of Rwanda's habituated chimpanzees. You'll meet your local ranger at a small visitor center, and then you'll be on your way, wandering down the trails and maybe ascending brief parts of the steep rainforest slopes hidden in the bush, as soon as the trackers find the monkey family—a group of about 40 individuals. You might be able to hear the chimps before you see them swinging from the trees or sprinting around on the ground all around you if you listen carefully!
This is a fantastic animal encounter! If you like birds, be sure to ask your guides to point out the species you could see on the trails, which could include the pretty magnificent blue turaco if you're lucky!
DAY 6 : CANOPY WALKWAY
A Forest Ranger will take your tour into the forest, which is accessible from the Uwinka Visitor Centre. This trip is a stunning excursion through the greatest remaining example of an Afro Montane environment, with an eye for some of the 310 bird species, butterflies, orchids, centuries-old trees, and 75 animals, including 13 primates. It is also one of the world's oldest continually wooded areas. The trip features a 200-meter-long canopy walkway that lifts you far above the forest floor and provides a unique platform for forest observation.
Following the tour, return to Kigali and be dropped off at the airport. Service termination.
