By choosing Makiadi Expeditions you are choosing to impact a life and change a story of a needy orphan, terminally ill, elderly, and a teenage mother, though indirectly.

Most founding members of Makiadi Expeditions have inspiring stories; overcoming the challenges of being orphaned at an early age, widowed, teenage motherhood and cancer survivors. All these members are impacting lives and changing stories; true champions of hope and humanity. It is this background that inspires us to give back to society. In addition to servingyou to your satisfaction, we aim to empower the less fortunate in society.

Below are some of our CSR initiatives:

1. EDUCATE AN ORPHAN INITIATIVE

The best empowerment you can give an orphan is education. Most orphans lose their inheritance to greedy relatives since they are too helpless to defend what is theirs. However, no one can grab education from the mind of an orphan.

Under this initiative, we identify bright but needy orphans who struggle with school fees or are out of school. We then communicate with well-wishers to help raise the fees in addition to the proceeds we set aside from conducting tours. We provide the required details to enable a well-wisher to pay directly to the school account.

Charles, one of the directors of Makiadi Expeditions, who is in charge of this initiative reflects: “When I was just about to give up on ever joining the university, Kayli Stollak, tourist turn volunteer through her R.EA.D Foundation came to my rescue and fully funded my undergraduate studies. Being orphaned at the age of 4 years and growing up in the hands of well-wishers and children’s homes, it was impossible to imagine that I would one day hold a degree in travel and tourism management and contribute to the growth of the hospitality and tourism industry. I believe we have tourists who have golden hearts and are paragons of humanity. My dream is to use tourism to empower the bright but needy orphans”
